Joan G.
Bordett is our Manager of Congregational Services. She works Monday
through Friday (except for Jewish holidays and some civil holidays),
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m, providing administrative, logistical, and
programmatic support to CBS-CS staff and volunteers, and
ensures coordination of synagogue functions, including maintaining the
synagogue calendar. She is responsible for planning and producing
member communications including The Sholom, and event publicity. When
you call the main telephone number at CBS-CS it is Joan who answers the
telephone. She is always ready and willing to answer your questions
about CBS-CS or to direct you to someone who can.
Joan has been a member of CBS-CS since 1981 and has served as Adult
Education and Programming Vice-President, Recording Secretary, as well
as Ritual Vice-President of the congregation. She holds a Masters of
Community Planning from the University of Cincinnati and a B.A in
Anthropology from the University of Virginia. Joan grew up in
Philadelphia, Pa. Professional positions have included working in the
Assistant City Manger’s Office in Cincinnati, Oh,. In Syracuse she has
worked in planning and program development capacities for the Central
New York Health Systems Agency, the Benjamin Rush Center, the
InterReligious Council (now InterFaith Works), and the Child Care
Council of Onondaga County (now Child Care Solutions). Joan is also a
past president of the Greater Syracuse Section of the National Council
of Jewish Women.
