Honors and Memorials

Are there times you would like to honor a special occasion , remember a deceased friend or relative, or wish someone a speedy recovery and you're not sure how to do it?  May we suggest sending a tribute or donation to Congregation Beth Sholom - Chevra Shas in honor of that special occasion, in memory of that special person, or as a get well wish.  A card will be sent promptly to a person you specify.

Donations are gratefully accepted in any amount of $5.00 or more:

Tribute donations are automatically directed to the Synagogue General Fund.

Donors of Special Chai Donations, $18.00 or more, may specify that their donations go to one of the following funds:

Synagogue General Fund –
Funds for the support of programming and operation of the synagogue.

Capital Improvements Fund
– Purchase of major equipment, materials or services needed to maintain and/or enhance the synagogue buildings.

Beautification Fund
– Purchase of furnishings, interior design objects, and services which enhance the interior and exterior beauty of the synagogue.

Bregman Memorial Garden Fund –
Maintenance of the memorial garden.

Library Fund
– Purchase of books, videos, and other media for use by congregants, as well as equipment and supplies necessary to maintain the library.

Youth Fund –
Funds for subsidies and scholarships for our youth to participate in Jewish education or activities, as well as services and equipment for youth education or activities not included in the general budget.

Ritual Fund
– Purchase of prayer books, bibles, and other ritual items needed by the synagogue that are not provided for in the general operating budget. At this time there are no prayer books available for book plates or any plans to purchase additional books.

Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund
– Funds for the rabbi to use at her discretion, e.g. to help people in need, or for programming that would not otherwise be possible.

Kalina Memorial Scholar-in-Residence
– Support for the annual scholar-in-residence program.

Dr. Gustave Pearlman Youth Fund –
Encouragement of the study and love of Torah by granting awards to high school seniors who have participated in Jewish activities, such as leading services, reading Torah, and volunteering in the Jewish community.

Arnold & Mimi Weiner Yiddish Culture Fund
– Funds to further the continued interest in and knowledge of the culture of Eastern European Jews through music, film, literature, speakers, and other programs.

Roberta Wladis Youth Activity Fund
– Subsidies to encourage participation in Jewish youth activities such as USY and Kadima conventions and USY encampment.

Rabbi Jezer Lectureship Endowment Fund –
Funds held by the Jewish Community Foundation as an endowment with proceeds used to support CBS-CS educational programming.
